Books from your 2007 list I've read:
300 by Frank Miller (many times, the Spartans would love it, the Persians, not so much)
The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Moshin Hamid (gripping, nuanced)
The Emeror's Children by Claire Messud (good, but no love, I think I liked The Last Life better)
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (kind of frustrating, good, but no love)
The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood (loved it, a biting, darkly hilarious commentary on the Odyssey and the epic tradition)
The Worthy: A Ghost Story by Will Clarke (true love, I love this book)
Books from your lists I mean to read:
The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani (partly because I like her name so much)
Middlesex by Jefferey Euginedes (because he's good)
The Tent by Margaret Atwood
Moral Disorder by Margaret Atwood (because she's great)
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Absurdistan by Gary Shteyngart, and, if I like it...
The Russian Debutate's Handbook by Gary Shteyngart
The Professor's Daughter by Emily Raboteau
Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl
Wonderful Tonight by Pattie Boyd
Hottest author from your list: Jessica Cutler
You're a wide-ranging reader Nearsighted. Your blog will be a huge success.
I've said it before...but having finished 'What Is The What' by Dave Eggers last night...it's official, you have to read it.
I will get to it eventually but you have to keep reminding me. My TBR pile is huge!
